Why is rest important

The inability to rest effectively can lead to poor sleep due to our bodies and minds being overstimulated. This creates stress within the system.

Many people suffer chronic low-level stress and think it's normal. Chronic stress contributes to;

- high blood pressure,

 

- causes brain changes that may contribute to anxiety, depression, and addiction,

 

- promotes the formation of artery-clogging deposits,

 

- contributes to obesity, both through direct mechanisms (causing people to eat more) or

indirectly (decreasing sleep and exercise).

King Parrot Retreat Centre is nestled on the north-facing hillside of the spectacular Pennyroyal Valley, situated near the Great Ocean Road and Lorne in the Otway Ranges. Consisting five cottages, lodge, hall and campground, King Parrot is a popular destination.

The architecturally designed accommodation is fully self-contained. Each offers comfort, character and privacy in a rustic bush land setting, including stunning valley views.

This retreat experience is designed to allow you to discover how to rest deeply, and how to prioritise it when you leave retreat. Every activity planned is slow, steady and mindful. You will relish in the deeply restorative practice that is Massoga® every day. The chef creates meals that are utterly delicious and easily digested, so your digestive system can rest. You will be nourished inside and out.
