What we resist, persists.

We love Oprah Winfrey’s Super Soul Conversations. Recently, she spoke with A New Earth and Power of Now author Eckhart Tolle, which reminded me of a quote I was trying to think of a couple weeks back: the one above.

Resisting blocks the flow of energy that delivers what you really need. When you resist, you put a wall up to what is actually happening. Energy flows like a river, and blocking it with a virtual dam just makes it build up even more and find its way around either side, over the top, or through cracks that might not be properly sealed.

Eckhart says in A New Earth, “Any external conditions that are being resisted tend to shift or dissolve quickly through surrender. It is a powerful transformer of situations and people. If conditions do not shift immediately, your acceptance of the Now enables you to rise above them. Either way, you are free.”

Surrender can only happen when the mind is quiet. When time is set aside for stillness, reflection and being. It might be 30 seconds, 3 minutes or 30 minutes - all you need is dedicated time to sit, still your mind, and listen to what you need. If your mind is racing (we’re human!), take a moment to focus on sensations in your fingers. It shifts the focus, and helps you anchor yourself in the now.

When did you last take time for you?
